Glowmundo's approach to trauma-informed instruction

By the time they're 16 years old, 2/3 of students in any given classroom in the US have had at least one adverse childhood experience (ACE), or, in other words, significant trauma. Trauma-informed instruction is not an option - it's what's required at a baseline to serve our students. When schools and teachers don't understand a student's experience or what their behavior is trying to express, they often end up punishing and retraumatizing that struggling student.

Glowmundo brings a neuroscience-based approach that helps the adults in the building understand what's happening to a brain under trauma, how to effectively deescalate a student's fight or flight response, and how to support these students instructionally so they're available learners. We also support teachers in developing their own self-care practice to prevent vicarious (second-hand) trauma and subsequent burnout.
